Step 1: Connect Your Google Account

Before using Google Classroom features, you need to connect your Google account to Workybooks.
1

Go to Settings

From your teacher dashboard, navigate to Settings → Integrations.
2

Click Connect Account

Find the Google Classroom section and click Connect Account.
3

Authorize Workybooks

You’ll be redirected to Google. Sign in with your school Google account and click Allow to grant Workybooks permission to:
  • View your Google Classroom classes
  • View class rosters
  • Create and manage coursework
  • Manage grades
4

Confirm Connection

Once connected, you’ll see “Connected as yourname@school.edu” in your settings.
Use the same Google account you use for Google Classroom. This is typically your school-provided email address.

Step 2: Import Classroom and Students

After connecting your Google account, you can import your Google Classroom courses along with their student rosters directly into Workybooks.
1

Go to My Classrooms

From your teacher dashboard, navigate to My Classrooms.
2

Click Import from Google Classroom

Click the Import from Google Classroom button to start the import process.
3

Select Courses to Import

You’ll see a list of all your Google Classroom courses. Select the courses you want to import into Workybooks.
4

Select Grade Level

For each classroom being imported, select the appropriate Grade level for the students. This is important as it determines which content and curriculum standards are available for assignments.
5

Complete Import

Click Import to create the Workybooks classrooms with all students from the selected Google Classroom courses.
Important: You must select the correct Grade level for imported students. The grade level determines which educational content is appropriate and available for assignments. This cannot be automatically determined from Google Classroom.

Step 3: Create and Assign Work

When you create an assignment in Workybooks for a classroom imported from Google Classroom, it will automatically appear in Google Classroom.
1

Create Assignment

Create a new assignment in Workybooks as usual. Select your curriculum resources (worksheets, quizzes, games, reading passages, or eBooks), set a due date, and assign points.
2

Select Your Google-Linked Classroom

Choose a classroom that was imported from Google Classroom.
3

Click Create Assignment

When you create the assignment, it will be automatically posted to Google Classroom.

What Students See in Google Classroom

When an assignment syncs, students will see:
  • The assignment title and due date
  • Instructions to complete the work in Workybooks
  • A link that takes them directly to the assignment

Step 4: Student Workflow

Here’s what happens when students receive an assignment:
1

Student Opens Google Classroom

Students see the assignment in their Google Classroom stream or Classwork tab.
2

Student Clicks the Link

They click “Open in Workybooks” to access the assignment.
3

Student Signs In

If not already logged in, students can:
  • Sign in with Google (recommended for school accounts)
  • Use their Workybooks username and password
4

Student Completes Work

Students complete the interactive activities (quizzes, games, reading passages) in Workybooks.
5

Auto-Submit

When finished, their work is automatically marked as submitted in both Workybooks and Google Classroom.

Student Account Linking

When students are imported from Google Classroom, Workybooks attempts to link their accounts using their Google ID. This allows students to sign in with their Google account seamlessly.
If a student cannot sign in with Google: In some cases, the automatic account linking may not work. If this happens, the student can use the Join a Class link on the sign-in page with their class code. During the join process, they can choose to Sign up with Google, which will properly link their Google account to their Workybooks student profile. After this one-time setup, they can sign in with Google for future sessions.

Automatic Grade Sync

When you have auto-sync grades enabled:
  1. Students complete assignments in Workybooks
  2. Interactive activities are auto-graded immediately
  3. Grades automatically sync to your Google Classroom gradebook
  4. Students see their grades in Google Classroom
For printable resources that require manual grading, enter the grade in Workybooks and it will sync to Google Classroom.

Managing Synced Assignments

Re-sync an Assignment

If an assignment didn’t sync properly, you can manually trigger a sync:
  1. Open the assignment in Workybooks
  2. Click the Sync to Google Classroom button
  3. The assignment will be updated in Google Classroom
To disconnect a classroom from Google Classroom:
  1. Go to your classroom Settings
  2. Find Google Classroom Integration
  3. Click Unlink Classroom
Unlinking won’t delete assignments already in Google Classroom, but new assignments won’t sync and grades won’t update.

Troubleshooting

Make sure you’re signed into Workybooks with the same Google account you use for Google Classroom. Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Google account in Settings → Integrations.
Check that:
  • Your classroom was imported from Google Classroom
  • Your Google account is still connected (check Settings → Integrations)
You can manually sync by opening the assignment and clicking “Sync to Google Classroom”.
Verify that “Auto-sync grades” is enabled in your classroom settings. If you recently graded work, wait a few minutes for the sync to complete. You can also manually trigger a grade sync from the assignment view.
Make sure the student:
  • Is enrolled in both the Workybooks classroom and Google Classroom course
  • Is using the correct login (Google sign-in with school account is recommended)
  • Has been matched to their Workybooks student profile
If a student’s Google account wasn’t automatically linked during import, they can manually link it:
  1. Go to the Workybooks student sign-in page
  2. Click Join a Class instead of signing in
  3. Enter the class code provided by the teacher
  4. Choose Sign up with Google and use their school Google account
  5. Once completed, they can sign in with Google for all future sessions
Go to Settings → Integrations, click Disconnect next to Google Classroom, then click Connect Account to reconnect with fresh permissions.
